Menaldum lies in a very quiet area in the province Friesland, 12 km. west of the capital of the province, Leeuwarden. It is a small village, from where the centre at less then 6 minutes from the entrance of holiday park Schatzenburg lies. From the nearby marina you can easy access the towns Franeker, Harlingen or Leeuwarden. It is also possible to sail on the Friese lakes from Menaldum. Friesland is a province with lots of charm and..peace. The surroundings has, besides the above mentioned affairs, much more to offer. Such as good shopping in Leeuwarden or visit the beautiful marina Harlingen. Many ships lie at anchor here. From Harlingen you can also visit the Wadden islands Terschelling and Vlieland. The animal park Aqua zoo in Leeuwarden is also worth visiting. What once started as an otter park, it now is a large animal park for water animals. The best way to explore this area is by bike.
